About the author
My name is Aki Järvinen. I’m a game theorist, lecturer, designer, and developer based in Helsinki, Finland. At present, I manage research and product development on games for a business unit called Entertainment Market in the National Lottery.
These pages document my academic and entrepreneurial adventures in games, focusing mainly on digital, board, and card games. During 2007 my goal is to finish and defend - finally! - my doctoral thesis. In the thesis my aim is to formulate sophisticated yet simple methods for game studies and design, and carry these into development, research, and/or education projects.
